- Courteney Cox was first approached to play Rachel, but she insisted that she play Monica since she thought that character was stronger
- Chandler was written to be a socially awkward guy who always behaved weird around women. This trait was inspired by Matthew Perry's real life personality!
- 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' was supposed to be named 'Insomnia Café'. The other options were also under consideration like 'Friends Like Us' and 'Six Of One'.
- Out of the six, only four were going to be the main characters - Monica, Joey, Rachel and Ross. Phoebe and Chandler were written as second leads. But the two went on to become the most popular characters on the show and the makers had to give them equal importance on the show!
- When the show went on air, Jennifer Aniston (Rachel) and Matthew Perry (Chandler) were 25, David Schwimmer (Ross) and Matt Le Blanc were 27, Courteney Cox (Monica) was 30 and Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) was 31 years old.
- The legendary orange couch at Central Perk that made the show what it is was actually found in the basement of Warner Bros. Studios.
- Because of his impeccable sense of humour, only Matthew Perry (Chandler) was allowed to sit in the screen writings for the show. He'd help the directors with jokes and punches for the scripts whenever they were in a fix
- Matt Le Blanc had nothing but $11 when he got signed on for the role of Joey. The first thing he bought with his first paycheque was a hot dinner.
- The track where Phoebe gives birth to her brother's triplets was introduced only because Lisa Kudrow was pregnant in real life.
- The white dog statue seen in Joey and Chandler's apartment actually belonged to Jennifer Aniston. It was gifted to her by a friend.
